Standard

General:

1. Attends annual organization fire/safety and infection control training and maintains current knowledge of safety procedures within the Hospital and organization.

2. Satisfactory completion of PCT orientation competency checklist (attached).

Clinical:

1. Provides care under the clinical direction of an RN and/or charge nurse and according to the developmental level of the child.

2. Prioritize daily needs of patients and/or RNs.

3. Provides support to the nursing staff with vital signs, bathing, feeding, meal preparation, assisting with trach tie changes; other tasks assigned based on need and experience/training.

4. Charting vital signs, I&Os, weights & heights.

5. Feeds patients on the Feeding Program after completing necessary training.

6. Sets up blood work.

Bed Spaces:

1. Assists with set-up (admissions) and breakdown (discharges) of bed spaces & cleaning of the transport isolette after transports.

2. Empty patients individual dirty linen bag at bedside and wash as necessary.

3. Maintains supplies/stock at patient bed space and/or nurses station.

Formula:

1. Responsible for making formula and sanitizing equipment as per policy.

Nurses Station/Nursery/Medication Room/Supplies:

1 Communicates information concerning the patient and family to appropriate personnel. Provides end-of-shift report to oncoming PCT.

2 Answer phones, responds to patient and family requests, appropriately, courteously, and in a timely manner.
Notify Charge Nurse of any issues of concern.

3 Check supplies in IV basket as scheduled replacing as needed monitoring expiration dates.

4 Communicates any patient/staff supply needs to Service Aide.

Patient Equipment:

1. Responsible for cleaning and maintaining patient care equipment between patient usage.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Assist with Service Aide duties when needed.

The Patient Access Service Specialist II (PASS) performs patient admitting and registration activities in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This position is part of a 24/7 Patient Access Team that completes all registration, insurance verification and authorization, co-pay collection, admission, discharge and transfers for all emergent and urgent patients.
The PASS are required to provide excellent customer focused and efficient service to both internal and external customers, and represent both Nemours and the ED in a positive, professional manner. They are responsible for demonstrating a commitment to service, organization values, and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor at all times.

Essential Functions:

1.Interviews patient guarantors face to face to complete efficient and accurate registration , which includes demographic, geographic and financial information.

2.Obtains appropriate signatures for consent to treat and financial responsibility which includes interaction with division of family services, social work, nursing supervision and other outside facilities/agencies to define the legal guardian.

3.Provides patient and/or family with information required by state and federal regulations.

4.Consistently demonstrates excellent, empathetic and knowledgeable customer service skills to internal and external customers including, but not limited to, patients, families, physicians, co-workers, payors, etc.

5.Notifies payors of all urgent and emergent admissions and ensures that required pre-authorizations have been obtained.

6.Coordinates with nursing staff to timely process patient transfers and discharges.

7.Verifies insurance benefits and eligibity by utilizing all available resources.

8.Is aware and adheres to all State and Federal Regulations including, but not limited to: EMTALA, HIPAA, OSHA, and the Joint Commission.

9.Collects all applicable co-pays and posts to the patients account.

10.Assists with proper patient identification.

11.Willingness to assume certain functions in the absence of a lead.

Requirements:

Prior Health Care Experience is required.

High School diploma required.

1.Must be familiar with personal computers, and have excellent accurate typing skills.

2.Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.

3.General knowledge of medical terminology.

Position Summary:

The Patient Services Representative is responsible for answering telephones, taking concise messages, scanning and indexing information into the medical record, handling requests for medical records and basic scheduling. This position requires population specific competencies. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.

Essential Functions:

The Patient Services Representative responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Responsible for receiving and/or dispatching incoming phone calls

* Collects payments for copays and deductibles

* Makes financial arrangements for patients

* Performs check in and out duties accurately and timely

* Makes appointments for visits and, if an emergency, informs a clinical employee or provider

* Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits and records the information in the medical record; completes referrals to specialty providers, home health, etc.

* Accurately enters patient demographics into the practice management system

* Takes messages when answering the telephone, correctly spelling names and identifying patient by two patient identifiers according to National Patient Safety Goals

* Takes clear and concise messages from pharmacies, physicians and hospital personnel; directs the message to the Clinical employee and/or Provider

* Manages large call volume while maintaining excellent telephone etiquette

* Organizes workflow to meet patient needs in a timely manner

Accountability:

Reports to Office Manager/Supervisor.

Environmental Conditions:

Must be able to handle a high volume of telephone calls (potentially hundreds per day), and high volume of patient interaction (potentially hundreds per day), i.e., scheduling appointments, discussing billing problems, setting up payment arrangements, collecting past due payments. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work in a high stress environment. May be required to drive.

Qualifications:

* High School diploma or equivalent

* 1 year clerical experience preferred

* Experience in the following areas: responsibility for cashier procedures and/or basic accounting, clinic check in/out procedures, basic health insurance, HMO, PPO, and basic medical terminology, general knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding preferred

* 6 months customer service experience, 6 months telephone customer service experience preferred

* Must be able to communicate effectively in English (Verbal/Written)

IMG Float Pool: This job requires the incumbents to operate an INTEGRIS-owned vehicle OR personal vehicle (non INTEGRIS-owned) and therefore must have a current Drivers License from the state of residence, as well as a driving record which is acceptable to our insurance carrier.
