Nemours is seeking a Patient Access Svc Spec II to join our team in Wilmington, DE.

The Patient Access Service Specialist II (PASS) performs patient admitting and registration activities in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This position is part of a 24/7 Patient Access Team that completes all registration, insurance verification and authorization, co-pay collection, admission, discharge and transfers for all emergent and urgent patients.
The PASS are required to provide excellent customer focused and efficient service to both internal and external customers, and represent both Nemours and the ED in a positive, professional manner. They are responsible for demonstrating a commitment to service, organization values, and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor at all times.

Essential Functions:

1.Interviews patient guarantors face to face to complete efficient and accurate registration , which includes demographic, geographic and financial information.

2.Obtains appropriate signatures for consent to treat and financial responsibility which includes interaction with division of family services, social work, nursing supervision and other outside facilities/agencies to define the legal guardian.

3.Provides patient and/or family with information required by state and federal regulations.

4.Consistently demonstrates excellent, empathetic and knowledgeable customer service skills to internal and external customers including, but not limited to, patients, families, physicians, co-workers, payors, etc.

5.Notifies payors of all urgent and emergent admissions and ensures that required pre-authorizations have been obtained.

6.Coordinates with nursing staff to timely process patient transfers and discharges.

7.Verifies insurance benefits and eligibity by utilizing all available resources.

8.Is aware and adheres to all State and Federal Regulations including, but not limited to: EMTALA, HIPAA, OSHA, and the Joint Commission.

9.Collects all applicable co-pays and posts to the patients account.

10.Assists with proper patient identification.

11.Willingness to assume certain functions in the absence of a lead.

Requirements:

Prior Health Care Experience is required.

High School diploma required.

1.Must be familiar with personal computers, and have excellent accurate typing skills.

2.Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.

3.General knowledge of medical terminology.

4.Excellent customer service skills.

5.Strong communication skills, bilingual preferred.

6.Knowledge of Health Care Plans and verification methods preferred.

7.Detail oriented.

Schedule: 12pm-12am shift, 36 hours a week

AIR COMMUNICATION SPEC

The Air Communication Specialist has dedicated responsibilities working within a multidisciplinary team helping to ensure the safety of Mayo Clinic aircraft operations. Coordinates air medical patient transportation to and from Mayo Clinic Rochester and Health System Hospitals as well as out of system transportation. Collaborates with on duty rotor wing and fixed wing pilots to make go/no-go flight decisions; Files FAA flight plans and analyzes Notice-to Airman (NOTAMS); Uses flight planning software and other aircraft performance planning products; Monitors pilot work rules to assist in making flight go/no-go decisions based on work rule limitations; Monitors meteorological conditions and pro-actively informs the ECC and on-duty pilots of weather conditions that will impact flight operations; Assesses NavDat and other flight planning systems to conduct airport analysis to assist in flight planning and preparation; Gains fluency in FAA Part 135 Operations Control concepts and flight planning resources. Conducts flight TSA screening process. Coordinates fixed wing flights and conducts the fixed wing utilization process; Actively monitors Mayo Clinic aircraft and crews during all phases of the transport; Coordinates safe communication and operations around any Mayo Clinic Rochester helipad; Attends monthly pilot meetings. Provides back-up support to Lead-EMDs and EMDs, which includes but is not limited to providing 911 caller pre-arrival instructions for Gold Cross Ambulance and for other county services within Minnesota and Wisconsin, provides hospitals served by Gold Cross advanced notification of major incidents and patient status updates requested by Gold Cross crews, receive and coordinate radio and telephone communications into the Emergency Department (ED) at Saint Marys, in patient units on the Methodist Campus, and activate Acute Stroke Team, Cath/Stemi Team, ED Resuscitation Team, Family Activated Pediatric Response Team (PRRT) and Trauma Team for the Mayo Clinic Medical Center. The position may require participation in a Department of Transportation mandatory drug and alcohol testing program. J2WMCMTHigh school diploma/GED. Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification or must obtain within 3 months of hire; Minimum of 2 years of experience as an EMD and 1 year of air ambulance dispatch experience; or 3 years of aviation dispatch experience with the Federal Aviation Administration or Department of Defense; Basic computer knowledge.
