Painter duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities of skilled and unskilled painters differ as per their expertise levels. In general, the duties and responsibilities of a painter are:
* Work and adhere to all safety policies within the work area and throughout the company.
* Properly and safely operate required tools both power/non-power.
* Understand and comprehend measurements and have the ability to apply based on instruction.
Ability to read a tape measurer.
* Fully understand quality policies and have minimum or zero defects per unit.
* Ability to read and or interpret work orders and apply to task at hand.
* Team member actively participates and supports PPS, 5S and TPM.
* Perform task within allotted RE time.
* Flex within functional areas as needed.
* Work required schedule including overtime.
* Assist with on the job training of team members.
* Work with little or no supervision.
* Meet physical requirements which include lifting up to 35lbs, standing for long periods, bending, stooping, reaching and squatting.
* Perform other duties as required by management.

Specific Job Functions:

* Ability to paint the following within RE time and Quality Specifications:

* Full bodies.
* Any style chassis and cabs.
* Trailers and or Tractors

Proven knowledge and experience in operating:
* Cup Gun
* Pressure Pot
* Plural System
* Airless Sprayer

Ability to spray any color

Able to titrate phosphate system and add chemicals as necessary

Perform preventative maintenance

Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or equivalent GED preferred.
* Prior experience in Auto Body Painting or equivalent schooling.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This job operates in a manufacturing plant environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand (sometimes for extended periods); walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 35 pounds. The employee may, at times, sit, bend, stoop, squat, reach overhead, or crawl (may be in confined spaces). The employee is expected to perform repetitive tasks using their hands, and have the ability to climb ladders and/or work in high places.

INDUSTRIAL PAINTER III, 1ST SHIFT

John Zink is looking for an Industrial Painter III on 1st Shift!

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

The successful candidate for this position must have the ability to operate spray guns to apply primer and finish coating of paint to all types of parts and units for company products. Must have the ability to mask surfaces and attain smooth/even surfaces; following specifications. Must possess basic math skills. May load and/or unload parts from racks. Must possess knowledge of how to maintain spray guns in serviceable condition (as well as paint booths).

What You Will Need:

Two plus years of hands-on experience with industrial painting.

Must have the ability to operate spray guns to apply primer and finish coating of paint to all types of parts and units for company products.

What Will Put You Ahead?

High School Diploma/GED

Three plus years of industrial painting. Ability to paint with carbon-zinc paints and other types of water-based paints.

Physical Demands And Unusual Working Conditions:

Able to work in industrial environment. Some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Walking, standing, stooping, crouching.
Must be able to pass respirator-fit test.

Other Considerations:

This is a 1st shift position. Must be able to work Monday-Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm

Able to work overtime if necessary

Industrial Painter

An equal opportunity, multi-certified industrial coatings and painting contractor is currently hiring industrial painters to perform interior and exterior painting of industrial projects,. Duties include prepping surfaces for painting and applying paint, assisting other skilled workers in performing their assigned duties, installing and disassembling access platforms and scaffolding.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

– Following safety instructions, rules, and regulations
– Prepares surfaces using industrial materials and machinery
– Abrasive blasting with high pressure hoses/nozzles and other tools
– Performs a variety of routine, non-machine tasks, such as installing and removing containment systems/tarps, rigid containment, erecting scaffolding, fall protection systems, and safety barriers in line with safe work procedure
– Painting using plural, conventional, and airless spray equipment, brushes, and rollers
– Lifting, carrying, and holding building materials, tools, and supplies
– Mixing, applying paints and solvents using hand and power tools
– May use some machinery such as paint pumps, blast pots, recyclers, tele-handlers/forklifts, aerial boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other power tools / equipment
– Work at heights
– Work in tight and/or confined spaces
– Install and/or dismantle ventilation systems
– Will be transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion
– Cleaning tools, equipment, materials, and work areas
– May be called on to clean down manufacturing & paint equipment with solvents and power washer

JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of formal apprenticeship program or admittance through labor union. Considerable attention required to prevent injury to self and others when working on ladders, scaffolds, and other elevated work areas.

– Physically stand or walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for long periods
– Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects
– Lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing 50 to 125 pounds
– Climb up and down ladders, stair towers, and scaffolds
– Have the visual and hearing capacity to perform work without harm to self or others
– Must be able to pass requirements of pre-employment testing
– Able to work productively in heat index exposure at or about 112 F
– Must be able to work productively in cold weather
– Attend work regularly to ensure acclimation to temperature extremes
– Prompt and on time attendance
– Don and perform work wearing air purifying and supplied air respirators and abrasive blast hoods
– Using / wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to full body harness, personal flotation device, tyvek coveralls, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.
– Adhere to the no smoking policy
– Reporting injuries and unsafe conditions or work practices to supervisors immediately
– Work well with others
– Being familiar with the Code of Safe Work Practices, Job Safety and You.
– Actively participating in toolbox or tailgate safety meetings
– Must have the mental capacity / skill to attain and retain certifications related to the coatings industry
– Be committed to an alcohol and drug free workplace
– Work away from primary residence for long periods of time
– Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the supervisor
– Industrial painting experience preferred
