Material Handler – Shipping

Duties/Responsibilities of Position:
* Receive freight from carriers/customers and update system accordingly
* Identify damaged equipment or accessories that were not returned
* Route assets to appropriate lab area and record in the proprietary software system
* Assist in physical inventory implementation and cycle counting
* Assist in pulling customer orders and preparing them to go to the lab area or to be sent to shipping
* Must have the ability to package and ship equipment using various methods such as foam in place, hard foam and transit cases.
* Assist other departments as needed
* Must have the ability to work with computers in a windows based environment
* Ability to accurately compare and match, small numeric and alpha characters on asset labels and product sheets
* Must have prior experience or the ability to drive a forklift
* Must have the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced warehouse environment
* Must have the ability to work a flexible work schedule, and overtime when required.
* General cleaning and other duties as required.

Position Specific Competencies/Skills Required:
* 2nd shift hours: 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm or later
* Basic computer skills
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
* Ability to lift, turn and bend with up to 50 pounds
* Ability to lift heavy objects/boxes overhead
* Standing for long periods of time
* Repetitive lifting, bending, stooping and turning
* Repetitive work with computer keyboard and both small and large parts of equipment
* Prior experience with RF scanning systems is preferred
* Clear driving record to drive fork lift
* High School diploma or GED equivalent
* 1 or more years in a warehouse environment and working with automated inventory and shipping systems
* Ability to operate warehouse tools such as, forklift, pallet jack, staple gun, etc.

Flint Hills Resources is currently seeking a Material Handler at our ethanol plant in Fairbank, IA.
In this role, you will be responsible for operating the grain scales and the computer system, weighing incoming and outgoing truck shipments, grading corn, and recording data accurately.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
* Timely loading of all ethanol and other products into railcar or truck
* Proper completion of all records related to the products loaded for shipment from the plant site
* Communicate with team members about current plant operations including, but not limited to, any loading or equipment problems
* Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in efforts to improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs
* Maintain cleanliness of plant
* Maintain rolling stock to include loaders, railcar mover, skid steer, fuel loader by checking fluid levels, greasing, lubricating and re-fueling
* Inspect loaders, railcar mover, etc. for defects, cracks, wear, etc. according to the designated schedule issued by maintenance and document the inspection results
* Perform pre and post-loading inspection results
* Submit work requests when appropriate
* Communicate with maintenance department and other team members to coordinate maintenance and repair work

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
* Valid and current government issued drivers license
* High school diploma or GED
* Ability to work overtime as needed
* Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, and Excel
* Ability to work a 12 hour rotating shift that includes holidays and weekends

Other Considerations:
* Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, twisting, bending, kneeling, crawling and grasping
* Standing for extended periods of time, walking up to one (1) mile per day, and data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour
* Ability to lift and carry up to
41 pounds;
Ability to push and pull up to
90 lbs; Ability to pull 65 pounds (vertically)
* Capable of using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments both mechanical and electrical
* Ability to work in confined spaces and climb/ ascend several flights of stairs and ladders
* Hearing, seeing (acuity – near far and depth)

* Exposure to environmental conditions (frequently walking in and outdoors) with exposure to extreme cold and warm temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees
* Must be willing to work around dust, oil, grease, chemicals, and other substances

* Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (Hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots and hearing protection)

Job Description

Operates forklift or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Hours of operation: 2:30pm to 11:00pm plus overtime when scheduled.

Major Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
* Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Opens containers
* Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand
* Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit
* Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area
* Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination
* Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled using bin locators or floor locations for inventory accuracy
* Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers
* Must be able to operate their assigned equipment safely and accuractely for extended periods of time. Must maintain their assigned equipment in good working condition.
* Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together
* Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
* Shovels loose materials such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics, or chemicals, into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels

Requirements:

* Must have the ability to work in a team environment and maintain regular attendance

JOB DUTIES

Material Handler Levels:

– Apprentice Level: An individual designated as an entry level material handler obtaining experience through on the job training or other organized and systematic form of instruction. This individual is still learning knowledge of theoretical and technical subjects and criteria related to material handling.
– Journeyman Level: An individual who has documented sufficient skills and knowledge of the material handling trade and occupation, either through formal apprenticeship or through practical on the job experience, and formal training. This individual is recognized as being specifically qualified to perform a full range of material handling assignments and uses independent judgment in making decisions where alternatives are determined by established procedures, methods and practices.
– Master Level: This is the advanced level and refers to an individual maintaining or recognized as a mentor or specialist. This individual knows how to provide instruction and training in the proper methods and processes necessary to carry out the most complex assignments. This individual can resolve either theoretical or technical problems and can definitively answer questions for other material handlers.

Material Handler – Raw Materials Warehouse

Position Summary: The Material Handler reports to the (BN) Site Leader/Manager and is responsible for all raw goods stored at Booneville, Arkansas warehouse.

Essential Functions:
* Constant lifting of up to 75 lbs., handling raw goods and pallets
* Read and understand Bill of Ladings and ST/OT paperwork.
* Must be able to print ST/OT paper work for MC/CN loads.
* Make ST/OT corrections as needed
* Must be proficient with Scan gun and JDE System.
* Must be able to maintain an outstanding attendance
* Responsible for cycle counts of at least 4 rows of raw goods
* Load trucks per email from MC min of 3 per day.
* Receive trucks scheduled min of 3 per day.
* Ensure all Retain/QA samples are shipped back in a timely manor for testing.
* Run reports for received items and send copy with original to MC
* Notify Logistics when trailer is loaded and ready to ship.
* Keep file of all ST/OT sent to MC/CN

Other Responsibilities:
* You have a direct and important role in ensuring that all work is performed in a safe manner. Effectiveness in carrying out this responsibility shall be considered a part of your performance.
* Must have a good understanding of the cycle count procedures.
* Will be the contact for year end audits with auditor
* Keep work area tour ready at all times.

POSITION SUMMARY: Operate industrial trucks or tractors equipped to move materials around the plant as well as outside the plant.
* Follow all safety regulations for the individual as well as other employees, including keeping the work area clean and in orderly condition as well as wearing all appropriate safety attire for the job that is being performed.

* Move controls to drive gasoline- or electric-powered trucks or tractors and transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.

* Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.

* Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank.

* Turn valves and open chutes to dump, spray, or release materials from dump cars or storage bins into hoppers.

EDUCATION:

EXPERIENCE:

Preferred past experience with the operation of fork trucks or other heavy machinery.

TOOLS:

EQUIPMENT/MACHINES:

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
