Description

This position will report directly to the Operations Manager in Stafford, TX. The VSM Standard Products will be responsible for managing daily operations and achieving safety, quality, delivery, cost and cash flow (SQDCC) operating targets for our standard product lines.
The scope of responsibility includes oversight of engineering design/configuration, production planning, industrial engineering, welding, machining, assembly, test, and packaging.

Responsibilities
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage vision and purpose:
* Establish long term plans to achieve continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and cash flow.
* Document improvement plans by clearly defining current state, future state, and implementation plans.
* Clearly communicate vision and improvement plans to employees.
* Delegate ownership of change to team, monitor progress, and hold team members accountable for timely completion of activities and projects.

* Participate in Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning sessions, and develop operations plans to support organizational goals.
Communicate operations plans to the
Standard Products team on regular intervals. Work closely with HR to maintain appropriate staffing levels.

Manage daily operations to achieve customer expectations and organizational goals:
* Conduct daily Gemba walks to review performance to SQDCC targets and implement root cause and countermeasure steps to correct any abnormal conditions.
* Conduct regular safety, lean, and 5S inspections and audits.
* Work closely with other functional areas to drive and own KPIs such as Promise date service level, Customer request date service level, past due backlog and lead time.
* Assist Project Management team with clearly identifying and communicating customer expectations to all team members for project orders and drive using master schedule.
* Ensure that Engineering team members work closely with manufacturing to support safety, quality, and cost targets, and that risks identified at the proposal stage are effectively mitigated within the design.
* Supervise Production Planning personnel to align production plans with customer demand.
* Manage welding, machining, assembly, test, finishing, and shipping work centers to meet production plans and enforce compliance with processes.
* Provide day to day supervision to ensure standards of productivity and quality are maintained.
* Provide problem solving, documentation and ongoing improvements of process best practices.

Champion change by supporting Lean Management team to make substantial step changes in the operation through Kaizen events.

Provide training and regular performance and behavior reviews to employees. Coach and counsel team members quickly and effectively to meet the company’s high expectations for both performance and behaviors.

Requirements

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS AND SPECIAL SKILLS:

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who possesses a high level of drive, integrity, and energy. Strong leadership qualities are essential. This individual must be able to influence others and build teams through the use of superior verbal and written communication skills and an exceptional interpersonal skill set. Additionally, excellent computer and analytical skills are a must. SAP experience is not required but an added advantage.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES AND BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of ten years of business experience.
This person must have a proven record of leadership in technical and production management roles. This person must have experience with MRP system, SAP will be plus.

EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT:

B.S. degree in technical, engineering, or business discipline.
