Position Summary:

The Staff Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for the management and delivery of patient care utilizing the nursing process May be required to float to other units. May be required to participate in on call status. This position requires population specific competencies. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.

Essential Functions:

The Staff Registered Nurse’s management of the delivery and documentation of patient care includes, but is not limited to:

* Assessment/re-assessments

* Development of the plan of care

* Implementation of appropriate patient care interventions

* Evaluation of appropriate patient care interventions

* Supervises and coordinates other licensed and non-licensed personnel in the provision of care to patients as assigned

* Provides guidance and mentorship to non-licensed personnel and students, as appropriate

Accountability:

The Staff Registered Nurse reports to the appropriate manager, director, or vice president.

Environmental Conditions:

Moderate exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, chemicals. Potential for bodily injury related to lifting and incidents of workplace violence. Must follow universal safety precautions. Exposed to constant interruptions, noise, disagreeable odors, and assorted chemicals. May float to other units. May be required to be on call status.

Qualifications:

* Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma.

* 1 year of previous RN experience required.

* Requires completion of the professional nurse orientation program and assigned unit orientation which includes specific skills checklists.

* Demonstration of core competencies will be completed within 90 days. Completion of unit specific competencies within 12 months.

* Current BLS certification upon hire or completion within 30 days of hire.

* Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

* Department specific competencies will be completed in the applicable department during the orientation process

Tier 1 – $30 of pay per hour with shift eligibility

* Incumbents must work a minimum of sixteen hours per month, typically a single unit.

Tier 2 – $32.50 of pay per hour with shift eligibility

* Tier two incumbents must be willing to commit to work at least 20 hours per week or more.

* Rotating weekend and holiday schedule required.

Hospice: This job requires the incumbents to operate a INTEGRIS-owned vehicle OR personal vehicle (non INTEGRIS-owned) and therefore must have a current Oklahoma State Drivers License as well as a driving record which is acceptable to our insurance carrier.

Mayo Clinic in Arizona has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant in the Transplant Center, Abdominal Surgery. Mayo Clinic in Arizona is one of the largest volume transplant centers in the country with outstanding patient outcomes.

Position description

The Physician Assistant has advanced health assessment and decision-making skills, prepared through a formal educational program that meets criteria established by the profession. Physician Assistants are certified by examination of an approved certifying body.

This individual works in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals to provide health care across the continuum of care for assigned patients. Provides primary health care to individuals and families. The provision of care includes, but is not limited to: obtaining patient history, comprehensive assessment, ordering, conducting, and interpreting diagnostic tests, and prescribing pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapies. Monitors the effectiveness of the therapeutic interventions. Makes appropriate referrals. Performs minor procedures as approved by the AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team and is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients. The position serves patients with end stage organ failure seeking kidney, pancreas, and/or liver transplant and patients seeking hepatobiliary surgery in both the inpatient, operating room, and outpatient setting managing medical and surgical care.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant practices within the guidelines of the transplant program and the institution. Responsibilities also include giving direction to various allied health staff. Tasks may include: comprehensive assessment, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a diagnostic impression, developing and implementing a treatment plan, monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, prescription of pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapies, and offering counseling and education to meet patient needs.
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant must also meet two to four of the following: Performs specialized procedure(s). Provides evaluations and consults with indirect supervision at least 50% of days worked. Takes call assignments; Provides Evening; Weekend/Holiday call.

Qualifications

For Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current RN license, Advanced Practice Certificate, and Prescribing and Dispensing Certificate in Arizona. Certification as nurse practitioner by an approved certifying organization.
RNFA is required.

For Physician Assistant: Graduation from a university program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education (ARCE) for the Physician Assistant. Must be certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Must have Arizona licensure as a Physician Assistant under the supervision of a Mayo Clinic physician upon hire.

For Both Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants: Maintains prescribing and dispensing privileges in Arizona. Must provide DEA certificate upon hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from the start date.
