Thompson Facilities Services has an immediate opportunity for several laborers. This is an overnight position. Candidates must want to work from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

We only hire the best candidates who take pride in their work and want to contribute to the success of Howard. This position is responsible for providing laborer, grounds, housekeeping, and transportation duties for the campus.

Heres the work you will perform
Clean assigned areas including dormitories, academic buildings, parking lots, and public ground areas
Operate machinery as trained, including Thompson Facilities Services maintained campus vehicles
Drive equipment to shops for repairs, and general servicing as requested
Perform setup and cleanup tasks at work sites on and about the campus
Direct traffic when necessary to ensure safety of pedestrians, motorists and work crew
Utilize proper cleaning methods and chemicals to ensure proper and efficient sanitary conditions. Clean restrooms, common areas, vacuum, dust, etc.
Provide labor support as needed for specialty crews such as transportation moving functions, and trash removal
Perform general clean up and campus ground maintenance services as required
Perform miscellaneous housekeeping and custodian job duties
The best candidates will meet these requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred
2+ years housekeeping/custodian experience in a university setting preferred
Valid drivers license from state of residence
Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with extreme weather fluctuations
Ability to read and write English to understand Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) information
Ability to climb heights and conduct work with proper safety restraints
Ability to lift heavy loads up to 50 lbs. and navigate the campus terrain during moving assignments

Salary range: $24K-$31K

Our client, one of the largest commercial concrete construction companies in the Cincinnati area, holds a strong reputation of success and quality, as well as being an award-winning developer. Established in 2005, they focus on commercial and municipal site development projects. They also have a full-service staff of talented concrete construction technicians who understand the importance of integrity, and desire to provide the absolute best for their customers.

They are currently seeking a Concrete Laborer to work with a team to align forms for sidewalks, curbs, and gutter as well as patch voids and use saws to cut expansion joints.

What you will be doing:

– Perform tasks involving physical labor on concrete construction projects.
– May clean and prepare sites, place and dismantle form boards, erect and dismantle shoring and formwork
– Grade out subgrade materials,
– Place bulkheads, pour, level, and finish freshly placed concrete, rake concrete and gravel
– Maneuver loaded wheelbarrow, and operate riding trowel machines.
– May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, concrete vibrators, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
– Other duties as assigned.

A Successful candidate will possess the following:

– Minimum of 1-2 years experience in commercial concrete
– OSHA certification a plus
– Self-starter with ability to work in a team environment
– Ability to read and understand drawings
– Good understanding of OSHA requirements
– Clean driving record
– Good oral and written communication skills.
– A complete background check will be required upon acceptance of employment.
